The Meru government is unapologetic for spending Sh7.8 million to buy curtains for various health facilities in the county. Health executive Dr William Muraah yesterday challenged those aggrieved by the purchase to go to court, adding that he reads political malice by those intent on fighting Governor Peter Munya.
“If there is someone who feels we have stolen or misused public funds let him come out and charge us in a court of law because all the procurement details are clear and transparent,” he said, dismissing allegations that the curtains were only procured for Meru Referral and Teaching Hospital.
Speaking at a press conference, Muraah said the curtains are to be used at 12 dispensaries, three maternity centres and 30 departments at the referral hospital.
“How can we pay health officers high salaries while patients’ quality care and privacy is not taken care of, every factor that pertains to health matters is important for quality services,” he added.
