An invigilator at the Kakuma Refugee Camp was on Thursday arrested for being in possession of Kiswahili paper and possible answers before candidates sat the Kenya Certificate of primary education (KCPE) exam.

Turkana West police boss Daniel Nyabuto said Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) officials during their supervision of the national exam on Wednesday found the invigilator (name withheld), a teacher at Luma Academy, who was an invigilator at Kakuma Refugee Camp’s Nduten Primary School with the papers.

Nyabuto said the teacher was arrested and the papers confiscated. “The Knec officials reported the matter to the police but the teacher fled forcing the police to launch a manhunt for her,” he said.

The police boss said the teacher was arrested on Thursday morning as she reported to the same school where she had been posted as an invigilator. She was taken to Kakuma Police Station and will be arraigned at Lodwar Law Court to face charges. --KNA
