The government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on the troubled northern Kenya county of Mandera following the dawn attack by suspected Al-Shabaab militants that claimed the lives 12 people.
Through a special gazette notice, interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery says the curfew will last will cover a radius of 20km from the Kenya -Somalia border will be in force for a period of three months.
The curfew was announced even as detectives probing the morning attack seized the caretaker of the Bishaaro hotel where the killings happened and were granted 10 days by the court to hold him in custody.
As Yussuf Ibrahim reports tension still remains high in Mandera with landlords now reluctant to host non- local residents as their tenants.
