Several judicial officers including a judge and a magistrate are being probed over Sh8 million that went missing from an Admiralty Court’s bank account in Mombasa.
Details of the funds theft came into the light after it emerged that some six Kenyans who had filed admiralty claims of about Sh3.8 million following the drifting of a vessel they were working in had not been paid their compensation four years after the money was deposited into the bank account.
Deputy Registrar at the Mombasa Law Courts Ivy Wasike said the matter was being investigated but was quick to exonerated herself saying she was not a signatory to the bank account at the time the money went missing. -SOPHIE NJOKA
