Pressure is mounting on Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to assure aspirants of various elective posts fair nominations, with politicians cautioning of possible massive defections.
This comes as professionals and some MCAs from Kitui county demanded that Senator David Musila relinquishes his post as party chairman, failure to which they will organise protests to force him out.
Speaking in Kitui town, eight MCAs said Kalonzo’s silence on how nominations will be held ahead of 2017 poll is creating anxiety and could lead to mass exodus from the party.
MCAs Kimanzi Ngoima, Felix Kinuva, Jacob Maundu, Joseph Sila, Peter Kilonzo, Mwendwa Munyoki, Joseph Kilika and Nicholas Muthui urged Kalonzo to convene a meeting to address the issue.
“Why as it taken long for the party leader to declare his stand over the nominations?” asked Kilonzo, adding: “Nominations should not be seen as an issue only affecting Musila.”
Elsewhere, a group of professionals demanded that Musila and Kitui East MP Mutua Muluvi step aside from their posts to ensure fair primaries, citing conflict of interest.
Through coordinator Campbell Munyambu, they claimed Musila is out to break Wiper, warning that if the senator does not relinquish the seat, “members will be mobilised across to kick him out”.
