Five people were on Wednesday charged in a Nairobi court with attempting to obtain Sh20 million by pretending to be presidential advisers on road projects. Harrison Mugo, Isaiah Gesicho alias Chairman, Joseph Kihonge, Baraka Kipkenei alias Mayor and Daniel Mumo allegedly committed the offence on August 18 at State House boardroom in Nairobi.
They attempted to obtain the cash from Usamah Timmi by pretending to be in a position to award him road projects tenders. Appearing before chief magistrate Daniel Ogembo, the suspects denied the charges and were released on a Sh1 million bond each and surety of a similar amount. The case will be heard on October 26.
Meanwhile, the High Court has restrained State House events coordinator Isaac Maina Wandere from trespassing on disputed land valued at Sh300 million in Kiambu county.
Lady Justice Lucy Gacheru of Land and Environment Court issued the order after three businessmen — Peter Ruhangi, George Maara and David Githere — accused Wandere of collaborating with Nairobi county officials to defraud them.
