The Kenya Wildlife Service says its, rangers were forced to use live ammunition to kill a male lion that had strayed out of the Nairobi national park to stop the animal from causing further harm after it attacked a motorcycle rider.
KWS director said the rangers resorted to the use of after a team of experts dispatched from Nairobi with tranquilizers got stuck in traffic for over an hour and later stalled in mud on their way to subdue the lion
The wildlife conservation body has however admitted that the increased incidents of lions straying from their natural habitats was being caused by the ongoing construction of the standard gauge railway project.
