Police in Wajir county are investigating a case in a woman was allegedly stabbed on the jaw by her husband Wednesday night in a family dispute.
Fatuma Ibrahim, from Khorof Harar village, was admitted at the Wajir County Referral Hospital after doctors were unable remove a knife lodged deep in her cheek.
She was scheduled to be airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment. Wajir East OCPD Benson Makumbi told People Daily that police arrested Fatuma’s husband Mohamed Waramba.
“We have him in custody and he will be arraigned in court soon. Investigations will start immediately,” he said. It is not yet clear what the couple fought about. “Neighbours heard a commotion and screams from the home at around 5pm and rushed to help. They found the victim locked inside the house,” said Makumbi, adding.
Last evening, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said the suspect would be charged with causing grievous harm.
