Mobile service provider Safaricom has contributed 6 percent to the Gross Domestic Product of the country during their financial year ending March 2015. This is according to a research they commissioned auditors KPMG to know what value the telco had towards the economy. Despite Safaricom not launching the report officially, CEO Bob Collymore said that through their end year financial results that saw a profit after tax of 32 billion shillings, their activities have converted this to 315 billion shillings. Bob Collymore was speaking during the release of their half year results ending October 2015 that saw a 22.9 percent increase in net profit to 18.1 billion shillings.
