Kisii county First Lady Elizabeth Ongwae has asked youths to develop a reading culture and boost development. She said the youth need to acquire skills and knowledge to engage the world effectively and competitively.
Speaking when she distributed learning materials to five schools in Kitutu Chache South sub-county in collaboration with Scope International, Mrs Ongwae urged the youth to make reading a hobby for them to ignite their creativity and harness their potential.
“I urge Kenyans more especially the youth to embrace a reading culture to fortify their future. Kenya cannot develop if our children are not educated,” she said.
She urged teachers, parents and guardians to encourage students to work hard, saying education is the best investment for the children and that literacy is a necessary ingredient for economic development and poverty reduction.
