Germany has assured Kenya of support in the war against terrorism. Incoming German Ambassador Jutta Frasch said Germany will work closely with Kenya to improve security and counter threats posed by terrorists that have been witnessed in recent times.

“Kenya and Germany have long standing and good relations and we are determined to develop them further,” said Frasch. She was speaking yesterday when she presented her credentials to President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.

Uhuru also separately received credentials from High Commissioner Suchitra Durai of India and Ambassador Kwon Young-dae of Korea. He welcomed the three envoys and expressed optimism that they will enhance relations between Kenya and their respective countries during their tour of duty.

Speaking when she presented her credentials, Indian High Commissioner Durai said the relations between Kenya and India have become multif-faceted to include social, educational, economic and technological fields.

“The Government of India is keen to further strengthen our relations for the mutual benefit of the people of our two countries,” said Durai. Korean Ambassador Kwon said his priority will be to promote trade between Kenya and Korea during his tour of duty in the country.

“I will strive to ensure that Korea and Kenya continue to work together and creatively find solutions that will define the future and strengthen our partnership,” the Korean Ambassador said. Last year, the two countries signed agreements to boost trade.

The agreements were on promotion and protection of investment and the convention for avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion.
