Deliverance Church of Kenya head Bishop Mark Kariuk.

Deliverance Church of Kenya head Bishop Mark Kariuki has called for the disbandment of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Speaking in Nakuru during the church’s National Youth Conference, he accused the anti-graft agency of failing to arrest corruption. “Corruption continues to erode our moral fabric and Kenyans continue to suffer because of looting of public funds,” he said.

The cleric decried constant ouster of EACC chairpersons over alleged graft scandals claiming those in charge have no moral ground to purport to fight the vice and accused politicians of lacking goodwill to fight the vice.

“The Opposition and the government do not have the goodwill to eradicate the vice and what they are doing is to politicise the whole process hence complicating the war. Political leaders are setting a dangerous trend to the young generation that to be wealthy one must be corrupt,” he said.

Bishop Kariuki also called for an amnesty to all Kenyans who have got their wealth through corruption. “As a country, we should set a time frame to allow those who have stolen from the public coffers to surrender it because prosecuting them seems impossible,” the cleric added.

Meanwhile, Bishop Kariuki urged followers and heads of evangelical churches with leadership ambitions to accept the mantle. “We should consider supporting an evangelical leader for the top most seat because politicians have failed to serve Kenyans,” he said.
