Nairobi County government has sent 1,600 employees on compulsory leave. County secretary Robert Ayisi said the staff members have accrued more than 60 leave days from the defunct City Council.
City Hall was forced to identify the employees who had “refused” or “declined” to proceed on leave for many years in a bid to protect the health and safety of workers, and ensuring that workers take a sufficient amount of rest leave is intrinsic to this aim.
