Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has told Cord leader Raila Odinga to stop opposing projects that were initiated by the Grand Coalition government in which he was Prime Minister.
Speaking during a tour of Kimama water station in Mt Elgon Constituency, the CS told Raila that politicising crucial projects was “in bad taste” but said it will not stop the government from funding them.
“The Cord leader should stop acting like a political sniper who shoots down all vision 2030 projects and especially the water ones which are very important to lives of Kenyans,” he said. He said the Itare dam water supply project in Nakuru County was started by the former Prime Minister during the grand coalition government at a tune of Sh150 million and that Jubilee government had picked it so it could not turn into a white elephant.
“We will not be distracted by politics of machinations and intimidation, playing with water projects is like playing with the lives of Kenyans who are still suffering from lack of water,” he said.
