Top ministry of health officials led by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Cleopa Mailu and principal secretary Nicholas Muraguri are insisting that they will not resign from office following claims of a 5 billion shillings scandal until a final audit report on the ministry's expenditure is finalized.
The ministry has instead invited various agencies among them the Ethics and Anti -Corruption Commission- EACC, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Kenya National Audit Office to carry out investigations into the alleged loss of funds at Afya house.
Mailu says a conclusive audit report will be finalized by 3rd November insisting an internal audit report leaked to the media was not complete and did not include responses to the queries raised.
Mailu spoke hours after EACC detectives stormed the ministry of health offices at Afya house and announced the commencement of investigations into the matter.
