Miraa farmers and traders have appealed to the government to assist them get a market from where they can sell the produce. They regretted that miraa is being sold on the roadside and in the process compromising public hygiene.
Led by the Nyambene Miraa Traders Association (NYAMENE) spokesman Kimathi Munyuri, the traders said miraa is a cash crop that requires certain standards and hygiene to be observed.
“Many public facilities such as coffee factories are lying idle and they should be rented to miraa farmers and traders. Both the National and County government should follow up on the issue to ensure we get such facilities,” he said.
