Former Cabinet minister Amos Kimunya yesterday suffered a blow after the prosecution rejected a proposal by the Nyandarua County government to settle a Sh60 million graft case out of court. Kimunya is jointly charged with Lilian Wangira Njenga and Jughae Wainaina.
The three are charged with abuse of office by fraudulent disposal of public property worth over Sh60 million. Nyandarua county government had urged the court to withdraw the case against the three.
The court was, however, informed that the Director Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission have rejected the application saying the case is of public interest. Trial Magistrate Felix Kombo allowed the prosecution’s application and the case was set for hearing on January 23.
