Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto will hold a parallel meeting in Bomet town on Friday to launch his Chama cha Mashinani (CCM) party.
The launch will coincide with Deputy President William Ruto United Republican Party (URP) national convention in Nairobi.
CCM’s meeting is expected to bring together officials representing the county’s 25 wards perceived to be rebels and who were locked out of the delegation to Nairobi.
Four officials are said to have been dropped from the list after they differed on who should attend the conference. Some claim they were deliberately left out, despite being loyal supporters of the party.
Lock out members
A Bomet branch executive officer Jonathan Lang’at has, however, defended the move to lock out some people saying; “We had to replace them, because they have been engaged as public servants by the county government. There is no way we could take individuals who serve other parties.”
Lang’at said county deputy organising secretary Nicholas Kirui had to be replaced, as he is a county employee.
He also said former officials Nancy Malel (treasurer), Philemon Yegon (assistant treasurer), and Andrew Kirui, a delegate representing persons with disabilities, have been substituted as they have either been promoting policies of another party or employed by the county.
