Anti-Counterfeit Agency Inspector Casper Mark Oluoch yesterday admitted in court that alleged contraband worth Sh35 million found in the upmarket Loresho home of Nairobi businessman James Kimani Mwangi was not sealed before being carted away last year.
He told Milimani principal magistrate Theresa Nyangena that the goods were removed from Kimani’s home and taken to the agency’s go-downs between June 9 and 12, last year after the highly publicised raid led by acting Executive Director John Akoten.
Under cross-examination by lawyer John Ogada, he said the raiding party did not comply with Section 25 (1) of the Anti-Counterfeit Act which makes it a mandatory that all goods that are seized must be sealed or marked appropriately for identification.
