Interior Cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery yesterday prevailed upon Inspector General of Police (IG) Joseph Boinnet and National Police Service Commission (NPSC) chairman Johnston Kavuludi to convene another meeting to verify and confirm names of the controversial list of newly promoted senior officers.
Kavuludi had blamed communication lapses to the raging controversy of conflicting list of elevated senior officers but said there were no two parallel lists. On the other hand, Boinnet said there was a little anomaly but they have since resolved it.
“I have this morning met with IGP and the chairman of the NPSC. We agreed on the way forward. Of course there is no conflict whatsoever with the commissioners of NPSC.
The decision on police promotion will be released after verification and confirmation,” he said yesterday during a joint briefing with Boinnet and Kavuludi.
The list from police headquarters did not include the names of National Police Service (NPS) spokesperson Charles Owino, Mary Omari, Noah Mwivanda, Fred Situma, Rosemary Kuraru, Jackson Kazungu, Jebel Ngere and Gitari Njoka who had been elevated to a new rank of the Acting Inspector General of Police as indicated by NPSC. “The chairman will convene a meeting and ensure what happened does not happen again,” he added.
