An autopsy of a student whose death led to chaos and burning down of a dormitory at Milo Secondary School in Webuye has revealed that he died of cancer of the liver.

Pathologist and doctors at Webuye sub-county hospital said Humphrey Wabwile suffered from enlarged liver, caused by the cancerous cells.

The students went on the rampage on July 26, after receiving news of his death claiming their colleague died from corporal punishment.

Wabwile’s teacher, who was not aware of the student’s sickness, administered corporal punishment on him when he found him sleeping in class during evening preps.

The student died at Webuye sub-county hospital where he was admitted sparking protests from students who attributed his death to the beating.

The family and the government hired pathologists to oversee the postmortem and ascertain the cause of the student’s death. The boy’s father Hudson Simiyu said he buried his son with the understanding he died from liver cancer.
