Several leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties have pledged to work with Jubilee for the sake of development. The 12 leaders, who visited State House, Nairobi, yesterday, said they held discussions with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto on the region’s development.
Denying that the State House visit was political, the leaders, three from Ford People, two from TNA, three from ODM and one from Narc Kenya, said they decided to engage the government to guarantee success of projects.
Led by Kisii Senator Chris Obure and Kisii deputy Governor Joash Maang’i, they said the government had tarmacked key roads in the two counties and had pledged to tarmac more. Although they vowed to remain in their parties, they said they would follow the direction the electorate would give them.
“We had lengthy discussions with the President and his deputy and we are satisfied with the reception and how they listened to our concerns. The meeting should be read in that context,” said Obure.
“We also prevailed upon them to consider more of our qualified sons and daughters for State appointments and fast-track the tarmacking of key roads,” added Obure at a press briefing at a Nairobi hotel.
Those who attended the State House meeting included Simon Ogari, Richard Tongi, Stephen Manoti, Elijah Mondi, Joel Onyancha, Jimmy Angwenyi and Zebedeo Opore.
Others were nominated Senator Hosea Ochwangi, former Constitution Implementation Commission chairman Charles Nyachae and aspirant for Kisii women representative seat Evelyne Ogendo.
