Bomet County Assembly has passed a motion to pressurise Governor Isaac Ruto to sign for the provision of the hired Sh38 billion medical equipment by the National government.

The motion was moved by Leonard Kirui of Siongiroi Ward and seconded by Kembu Ward Rep Julius Korir. The motion in part stated that there existed the Managed Equipment Services project to supply medical equipment by the National government and that 46 counties have signed for the provision of the equipment except Bomet.

The County Assembly resolved that Ruto be compelled to sign for the equipment for the benefit of the region. Kirui said it was wrong for the governor to deny residents the diagnostic machines which would assist in minimising referrals to other counties and even reduce deaths.

The member said the National government has already delivered some of the machines due for Bomet in two hospitals, Longisa County Referral Hospital and the upgraded Ndanai Sub- County Hospital.

Korir said the equipment, which are on hire to the County government by the National government for a period of seven years through conditional grants, would assist the people of Bomet in cutting down on medical expenses.
