Church leaders have condemned political leaders whose utterances have the potential to cause chaos in the country.
The more than 100 leaders drawn from Nyeri, Nanyuki, Meru, Isiolo and Nairobi spoke yesterday at the Gospel Outreach Church, Nanyuki.
They criticised recent remarks by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.
Speaking on their behalf, Bishop Mark Kariuki (pictured centre) of the Deliverance Church, told politicians to weigh their words carefully because reckless speeches could lead to bloodshed.
He said it is wrong to call for the elimination of people with divergent political views.
“Why contemplate killing your fellow human being because you differ on some issues?” he posed.
They also chided Kabogo over his remarks on Central Kenya’s support for Deputy President William Ruto’s candidacy in the 2022 General Election.
The clerics announced that they would hold prayers for the country next month.
