Uhuru park grounds, the venue of this year's Labour Day celebrations was turned into a theatre of drama, after politics took centre stage with leaders who attended, pulling all stops to outdo each as they pitched for their competing stakes.
KNUT chairman Mudzo Nzili kicked-off the political storm with a veiled attack on his secretary general Wilson Sossion who had during the recent Kericho by- election cast his stake with the former ruling party - KANU - declaring the giant teachers union does not subscribe to any political party.
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, who is eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat were to later take the cue from Nzili, virtually turning the event into a campaign rally, much to the discomfort of COTU secretary - general Francis Atwoli and Labour cabinet secretary Phyllis Kandie.
