The 3rd edition of the annual devolution conference came to a close in Meru county amid heightened political undertones and no end in sight for the deep seated suspicions between the national and county governments.
Cord leader Raila Odinga who seized the opportunity provided by the absence of the top leadership of the ruling Jubilee administration accused the national government of frustrating governors and impeding the success of devolution.
Odinga called for an end to the constant wrangles between the county chiefs and the legislative arms at the national and county levels even as the council of governors chairman Peter Munya declared that the county chiefs were not inclined to any political party terming critics of the governors as enemies of devolution.
