It was a vote that saw the 2003 office bearers expelled from the decision making table . An exercise the Mugumo-ini farmers resolved to participate in to elect new leaders to take over from the previous ones whom they claim were in power since 2003 against their wish.
According to the newly elected Chairman Joseph Kamande, the previous regime fraudulently sold their 230 acres of land, farm tractors, coffee milling machines and other assets without consent from the farmers.
The farmers accused the courts of derailing their efforts to hold general meetings to square things out by stopping their scheduled meetings and elections..
Kamande, the company's new Chairman vowed to have a complete audit of the company's assets since 2003 and promised to have all the lost property reverted back to the company.
When contacted, the former regime's chairman Francis Gathiga refuted the allegations. He claimed that during his 13 years in office, he actually saved the company from being auctioned by the Standard Chartered Estate Management Ltd (SCEM) who were demanding Ksh 150M worth of unpaid services.
