Three Jubilee MPs now claim that the Opposition legislators who disrupted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address sought to ensure that Deputy President William Ruto’s case at the ICC does not end.
The sensational allegation was made by MPs Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South) and Waihenya Ndirangu (Roysambu), who said the mayhem that ensued at Parliament on Thursday “was meant to paint the country as unstable and ensure the no-case-to-answer motion by Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang flops”.
They claimed the plot by Cord MPs was timed to precede the motion’s crucial ruling scheduled for tomorrow at The Hague-based International Criminal Court.
Addressing journalists at Umoja PCEA in Nairobi yesterday, the Jubilee MPs demanded an apology from Cord leader Raila Odinga for allegedly backing his troops’ misconduct.
“It is high time he shows that he is responsible,” they said. Pointing an accusing finger at activist Ndung’u Wainaina, the MPs claimed that Cord members are working with some civil societies to ensure the Kenyan case does not end.
“If Cord MPs cannot respect the President then they should respect the institution of Presidency. Baba (Raila) should apologise on behalf of his children,” said Waweru.
Kuria questioned Wainaina’s comments on ICC case, saying: “Wainaina should tell us if he is in contact with ICC for him to talk about the oncoming judgment.”
