The Asian man who was in the spotlight for allegedly forcing his wife to abort five times last year is now embroiled in another domestic feud after his embattled spouse pressed assault charges against him.
Purshottam Hirani recorded a statement at Spring Valley Police Station on Friday after the Office of the Director Public Prosecutions (ODPP) instructed the station to take up the matter.
Record statement
It followed weeks of cat and mouse chase between the police and Hirani. From March 14, the police have reportedly been calling and texting Hirani in a bid to have him record a statement but could not get through to him.
It emerged that three days after he was contacted by the officers, the accused flew out of the country, and returned 11 days later.
Last Wednesday, Hirani through his lawyer only identified as Shivachi contacted Spring Valley Station asking why his client was required to record a statement.
According police statements seen by People Daily, an irate Hirani returned home late in the night drunk and in complete state of inebriation and attacked her, punching her severally in the chest.
