Elders from the Bukusu community in Western Kenya together with leaders of the ‘Dini Ya Musambwa' sect descended on a public cemetery in Kakamega claiming the spirits of their kinsmen buried there, during the World War II, were responsible for the Luhya community's political tribulations. The elders offered prayers and conducted special rituals on the grave yard to appease the spirits of the dead hoping that come 2017 a Luhya person will emerge as Kenya's president.
