Deputy President William Ruto’s wife, Rachel, has urged Kenyans to be patriotic. She said it was disappointing that some Kenyans talk negatively about their own country. “It is so bad that people talk badly about their country as if they have somewhere else to go to,” she said.“Let’s talk positively about our nation, let’s be patriotic”.

Speaking at the Presbyterian Church of East Africa in Meru town, Rachel asked Kenyans to love their leaders and pray for them. Mrs Ruto, who was accompanied by Meru Women’s Representative Florence Kajuju, said she is optimistic the case against her husband and radio presenter Joshua arap Sang at the International Criminal Court (ICC) will soon be dropped.[ad id="178821"]

Rachel praised the Kenyan team that represented the country at the Assembly of State Parties at The Hague that successively negotiated against the use of recanted evidence in the Kenyan cases. “I thank God for answering our prayers. I have faith and pray that soon it will be behind us,” said Rachel. She appealed to women to explore their potential because they had the responsibility of taking care of the family.
