It was a unique celebration of life as family, friends and the Kenyan entertainment fraternity and thousands of fans came together to pay last respects to the man who entertained Kenyans for over four decades.
The funeral of the late Benson Wanjau popularly known as Mzee Ojwang Atari, was reminiscent of the life he lived as an entertainer. His final send-off was marked with same laughter he had bestowed on the public when he was alive.
Nyayo National stadium was abuzz with a large crowd waiting to pay their last respects as the convoy arrived from Umash Funeral Home. Amid the celebrations, fellow actors expressed bitterness and displeasure with the national broadcaster KBC.
President Uhuru Kenyatta who had said he was a huge fan of Wanjau when growing up, sent his message of condolence through the Sports and Culture Cabinet secretary Hassan Wario. He was later laid to rest at the Langata cementary in Nairobi.
